Alternative Wedding Readings
10 May 2013If you’ve never read Captain Corelli’s Mandolin and you have no affinity with dinosaurs (lovely or otherwise), then we might just be able to help you with some suggestions of a few alternative wedding readings.

How To Do A Wedding Reading
02 Jul 2012I spent most of Friday afternoon saying, "Thank you, but of course I am theatrically trained" whenever someone said "Well done on your reading." I'm not going to lie readers, I loved it. I had more or less demanded to be allowed to do a reading at our friends' wedding and may have thrown my toys ever so slightly out of the pram when I was "only" given a psalm to read. Where's the emotion in that? The opportunity to provoke a single crystal tear of appreciation sliding down the bride's cheek? The fanfare of a climactic conclusion?

Blowing away the cobwebs
30 Jan 2012I seized the opportunity to prey on his affection, linking my arm through his and nestling my body against his side for warmth. He looked down at my watering eyes and bright red freezing cheeks as he squeezed my arm a little closer to him. Despite the perishing baltic blast playing havoc with my internal barometer I felt a glow of warmth spread through my body and realised that this was exactly what I needed; to be told to man up in the real world.

A short interlude
16 Dec 2011As a special Christmas treat, I am going to be publishing a fresh new wedding report for you next week. The bride in question spent many hours researching her wedding plans on blogs and online, which is how she happened upon this here lowly ole Wedding Reporter. I'm thrilled to be sharing this wedding from back in August, when the days were longer, the skies were clearer and the wonder of weddings was in the air. Check back for the full, unabridged first part on Monday. In the meantime, I offer some light entertainment in lieu of carefully crafted words today. Kick back, relax, let the onslaught of the weekend envelop you and feel the festive fun. Here are some things that have been keeping me inspired of late...

The Wedding Reporter goes Dashing into magazines
09 Dec 2011Dashing Magazine is an 'online inspirational magazine for the stylish and spirited girl.' Does that sound like you? Well then clickety click that little mouse of yours and get over there for a look. The reason that I was particularly excited to see the launch issue was that I had been asked to contribute some words. Around 600 of them. When I received the email asking whether I would write something light-hearted but real about the conundrum of Christmas shopping for in-laws I did a little dance in my seat; this was not only right up my street but they had actually named the road after me it was so relevant.

First Date
28 Nov 2011I was going on a date. A first date. Ever. (Well, Pizza Hut with your teenage boyfriend after drama club with your pocket-money doesn’t count as a date, does it?) A first date. With my boss. Who was nine years older than me.

A different kind of report
03 Jun 2011As you read this, I am walking into a utilitarian looking classroom in a resplendent concrete block from the 1960's. I am sitting on an orthopaedically unsound chair at an awkward desk, arranging my pens into preferential order. Someone I've never seen before is handing out test papers and explaining rules.

Blood Donation Day
15 Apr 2011Today we are celebrating those that already give blood and urging everyone else to get involved. Together with Fiona Kelly, I have enlisted a whole host of wedding blog aficionados to shout about how important it is to donate blood.
