I spent most of Friday afternoon saying, "Thank you, but of course I am theatrically trained" whenever someone said "Well done on your reading." I'm not going to lie readers, I loved it. I had more or less demanded to be allowed to do a reading at our friends' wedding and may have thrown my toys ever so slightly out of the pram when I was "only" given a psalm to read. I was going on a date. A first date. Ever. (Well, Pizza Hut with your teenage boyfriend after drama club with your pocket-money doesn’t count as a date, does it?) A first date. With my boss. Who was nine years older than me.

As you read this, I am walking into a utilitarian looking classroom in a resplendent concrete block from the 1960's. I am sitting on an orthopaedically unsound chair at an awkward desk, arranging my pens into preferential order. Someone I've never seen before is handing out test papers and explaining rules.
