  • Baby, I love you…

    11 Jun 2012

I have witnessed a lot of love and happiness, a hint of sadness and remorse and a hurricane of laughter. But through it all, I have fallen in love with these couples, with their families and friends who have been nothing but beautiful and wonderful.

  • Reasons to commission a wedding report

    13 Jan 2012

So you've heard about the 20% sale at The Wedding Reporter, right? And you've already headed over and liked my Facebook page, yes? But there's still this niggling feeling that you're not quite ready to take the plunge? Your fiancé doesn't quite 'get' why you would want to pay some random girl to turn up and write about your wedding? You're not sure it's worth the extra spend? Well, don't take it from me that commissioning a wedding report is a fantastic investment for your future, take it from the couples who have already added their wedding report to their bookshelves...

  • The year that changed my life…

    30 Dec 2011

As we teeter on the precipice of a shiny new year, filled with hope and promise, I want to briefly thank the people who have put me here today, writing these words. I recently looked at all the tweets I've favourited and it was an amazing chronicle of the process in setting up this business. The support I've received from a community of people who I have hardly ever met is just overwhelming.

  • Memo from The Wedding Reporter

    05 Dec 2011

From: The Wedding Reporter To: Cloggins Date: 5 December 2011 Subject: 2 Month Review Please note that in the current financial climate, we do not have the budget for the website equivalent of jazz hands, so stop wasting your time sketching out your ideas for an ultimate design overhaul and make do with the perfectly pleasant website that Wordpress has provided. Thank you for continuing to raise brand awareness through social media but do try to keep the cat pictures to a minimum and stay on message. Remember: we want to attract dynamic pocket rocket girls who believe in their own sense of style and want is preserved for posterity in a wedding report. Although 8 bookings are in the diary for 2012, we would like to see this increased, particularly in the months of March and April.

You can now purchase gift vouchers towards the total cost of a wedding report, in multiples of £10 and £25. Tell your friends and family to buy them for you or ask your engaged friends if they would appreciate a contribution towards the cost of their wedding report. If you are interested in purchasing gift vouchers (just in time for Christmas, how convenient!) then drop me a mail and we'll get the ball rolling.

  • Memo from The Wedding Reporter

    07 Nov 2011

From: The Wedding Reporter To: Cloggins Date: 6 November 2011 Subject: Trial Period Review As you will be aware, it is customary to have a review of your progress at the end of your first month's trial period. As it has been exactly one month since you left the shackles of your former life in pursuit of a more literary life, I thought we should touch base to discuss your role going forward.

  • A Lucy Ledger inspired list

    14 Oct 2011

I met Lucy this weekend at the Designer Vintage Bridal Show and her beautifully styled stall was a testament to all of her hard work. Her big beaming face was testament to how much she loves what she does. My bashful praise and major fangirl moment was testament to what an inspiration her journey has been to me - a journey which Lucy chronicled earlier this week in her Diary of a Designer post. With very little prompting at all, here's how it went down for me...

  • Wonderful Wednesday Words

    05 Oct 2011

"Just don't give up trying to do what you really want to do. Where there is love and inspiration, I don't think you can go wrong." -Ella Fitzgerald Today I bid farewell to the daily grind, to corporate emails and sitting at a desk for 9 hours a day, to fantastic and funny colleagues and to a life that I once thought would fulfil my aspirations. Today I am pursuing what has always been my biggest driving force and my constant companion: my imagination. Today I step into the world of self-employment, earning a living from writing and devoting my time to The Wedding Reporter and all that it entails. Never has such a momentous decision felt so good. I can't wait to show you what I'm capable of.

  • Marriage: Year One

    04 Sep 2011

We didn't stop smiling all day. I giggled and laughed from the moment I reached the altar until the moment I fell into bed, exhausted but exalted. No one had warned us how much fun getting married was, or how momentously in love we would feel.

  • A prologue to The Wedding Reporter

    11 Jul 2011

Opening my eyes again to the artificial light streaking through the aircraft cabin, my gaze fell on his hands and I smiled. The silver ring on his finger still looked shiny and alien; even in his sleep he was conscious of the new feeling of weight on his hand, curling his fourth finger protectively inward.

About*

The Wedding Reporter was a unique idea conceived in the early spring of 2011. The way it works is essentially that I'm a professional wedding guest, soaking up the ambience, the atmosphere and the details of the day in order to go away and transcribe it all into a literary creative non-fiction account of the day.
