I watched avidly as the group around me fell into a hushed, awed silence. They all put their heads together, looking out the corner of their eyes and speaking sideways from their mouths. Occasionally I would hear the word “lens” or “film” or “prestigious” and wonder what all the fuss was about.
As far as I could see, it was just a petite woman rocking a very cute leather jacket, her hair in a bun and some cameras hanging from her neck that looked so enormous it was hard to believe the weight of them didn’t drag her head down.
Little did I know that what I was actually looking at was magic in the making. How naieve I was, as the off-duty group of shutterbugs around me explained that this wasn’t just any wedding photographer, this was the one that all other wedding photographers got a little bit dewy-eyed about.
How ridiculous I felt that I had not yet made the acquaintance of London and Ibizia based photographer extraordinaire Polly Alexandre who shoots on film and always has to get the shot right first time because each frame costs a trazillion squid to process from a hermetically sealed lab on the other side of the world by a fingerless nun.
(Alright, I made the last part up.)
See what I mean? Stef & Emily perfectly captured by Polly.
In the end, I was too shy and she looked too busy for me to introduce myself, so I watched her from the edge of the field as she happily snapped her way through Emily & Stef’s glorious wedding. At no point did she come across as someone who is internationally recognised within the industry as one of the finest commercial, portrait and personal photographers. She just seemed like a really fun dude with fantastic lipstick.
By this point, you’ve read the synopsis of Emily and Stef’s wedding, seen the video and images from the first part of their wedding, checked out their South Bank photoshoot and now you’re going to look at the official shots that Polly took and revel in the beauty of it.
Stay tuned for Emily and Stef’s full wedding report, which is coming to all you avidly waiting fans in two juicy parts next week!
